L’universo artistico di un allievo di Maratti: lo studio Calandrucci
e le sue raccolte descritti da un nuovo inventario,

La découverte d’un important inventaire dressé en 1737 des biens de l’héritage du peintre Giacinto Calandrucci (palerme, 1655-1707) permet de présenter dans son ensemble le matériel artistique de l’atelier de cet élève de maratti qui rassemblait environ deux cents tableaux, une centaine de plâtres, deux cents livres et plus de deux mille dessins et estampes. L’examen des inventaires de cette collection, exceptionnellement détaillés, retranscrits avec des index en annexe de l’article, non seulement donne des précisions sur la formation et la production artistique de Giacinto Calandrucci, de son frère Domenico et de son  neveu Giovan Battista, mais permet également de noter des correspondances avec des œuvres aujourd’hui conservés dans les musées et d’apprécier la fortune de certaines toiles célèbres et d’artistes contemporains. Cette étude montre surtout comment l’atelier et son matériel correspondaient fidèlement aux divers concepts théoriques exprimés dans la littérature artistique du XVIIe siècle. Pour comparaison, est aussi reporté à la fin l’inventaire des biens restés à Rome d’un autre élève de Maratti, Andrea Procaccini, décédé en 1734 en Espagne, alors qu’il était peintre au service de Philippe V.

La scoperta di un importante inventario steso nel 1737 dei beni dell’eredità del pittore Giacinto Calandrucci (Palermo, 1655-1707) offre la possibilità di presentare nel suo insieme il corredo artistico dell’atelier di questo allievo di Maratti che rinchiudeva circa duecento quadri, un centinaio di gessi, duecento libri e oltre duemila disegni e stampe. L’esame degli elenchi di queste raccolte, eccezionalmente dettagliati, riprodotti con indici in appendice all’articolo, non solo dà precisazioni sulla formazione e produzione artistica di Giacinto Calandrucci, di suo fratello Domenico e di suo nipote Giovan Battista, ma permette anche vari riscontri con opere oggi conservate nei musei e documenta la fortuna di alcune tele famose e di artisti contemporanei. Mostra soprattutto quanto il contenuto della bottega corrispondesse fedelmente ai vari concetti teorici espressi nella letteratura artistica seicentesca. Infine, è riportato per confronto l’inventario dei beni rimasti a Roma di un altro allievo di Maratti, Andrea Procaccini, deceduto nel 1734 in Spagna, allora pittore al servizio di Filippo V.

The discovery of an important inventory drawn up in 1737 of the property bequeath by the painter Giacinto Canadrucci (Palermo, 1655-1707), provides an opportunity to present as a whole the artistic contents of the atelier of this pupil of Maratti, which comprised some two hundred paintings, a hundred or so of plaster-casts, two hundred books and over two thousand drawings and prints. An examination of the lists of these collections, exceptionally detailed, and reproduced with indices in an appendix to the article, not only throws light on the artistic training and oeuvre of Giacinto Calandrucci, his brother Domenico and his nephew Giovan Battista, but permits various works listed in the inventory to be identified with works now preserved in museums, and the fortune of some famous paintings and contemporary artists to be documented. It shows in particular how the contents of the atelier reflect the various theoretical concepts expressed in the artistic literature of the late seventeenth century. The inventory of the goods left in Rome by another pupil of Maratti, Andrea Procaccini, is also published. Procaccini, who died in Spain in 1734 was a painter in the service of king Philip V.
